New Center for hybrid nanostructures, Hamburg

Based on our urban planning study for extension of the campus for physics in Bahrenfeld, Hamburg, the southern part of the site is currently being developed in coordination with Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY). The "Center for Hybrid Nanostructures" (CHyN) is the first new building on Campus South, the former Reemtsma site. The goal of this center is to develop hybrid nanostructures for the analysis and manipulation of biological materials and systems.

Usage:
- Laboratories for the development of hybrid nanostructures for the analysis and manipulation of biological materials and systems
- Interface between nanophysics, chemistry, biophysics and biomedicine
- Provision of RF cabins and cryostat pits
- Combination of chemistry, biology and physics laboratories
- Research of quantum materials and biomaterials in a BSL-2 laboratory area
- Provision of actively shielded physical laboratories, equipped with vibration-isolated foundations, optical tables, TEM, REM and SEMPA
- Clean-room areas: ISO clean-room class 4 with 420 m², ISO clean-room class 5 with 220 m² and ISO clean-room class 6 with 220 m²
