Extension production site Crissier

The new building supplements the existing facilities of the “Centre for the development and production of vascular, parenteral feeding and pharmaceutical perfusion solutions”. The Crissier production facility will serve all the member companies of the B. Braun Group in some fifty countries. The building has been designed to permit possible future extensions with two additional floors to satisfy future needs. Less than two years elapsed between project planning and completion of the construction work.

The first project phase (already built) comprises on the ground floor a production line for pouch manufacture in a clean room with windows extending from floor to ceiling and communal cloakrooms for the whole production line; technical rooms and loading ramps are also provided. The first floor will accommodate the new production lines and a walkway linking up with the existing factory. The new recycling centre has been enlarged and is now positioned below the walkway. To supplement the existing facilities, a new neutralisation station has been built. A new car park has also been laid out to the west of the new building.

The architecture of the new production facility combines functional and modular characteristics which reflect the image of the enterprise. The limitation of the façade materials to concrete, steel, glass and anodised aluminium emphasises the sober nature of this architecture. The north and south facades are closed, while the west façade (2nd floor) and the east façade (ground floor) are fully glazed with a display window effect opening up a view of the production lines. On the western façade, instead of a mobile sun blind a fixed sun protection has been installed with an overhanging canopy which emphasizes the horizontal character of the building and ensures at all times a perfect view both from the inside and from the outside. The entrance pavilion has been incorporated below the canopy and becomes a linking element.

The environmental aspects were also taken into account in detailed studies to optimize energy consumption in the production plant.
